Prince Harry and Meghan are first-time parents after the Duchess of Sussex gave birth early today with her husband by her side.
Their son was born at 5:26 a.m. BST (12:26 a.m. ET) and weighed seven pounds, three ounces, Buckingham Palace said.
The newborn, who has yet to be named, is the Queen’s eighth great-grandchild and seventh in line to the throne.
Harry, 34, the Duke of Sussex, said Meghan, 37, and their son are doing well.
Prince Harry says he’s ‘incredibly proud’ of Meghan after son’s birth:
In announcing the birth to reporters in Windsor, Harry said the child was a bit overdue, and that had given them more time to contemplate names. He said he’s ecstatic about the birth and said more details will be shared in the coming days.
“This little baby is absolutely to die for,” he said. “I’m just over the moon.”
Senior royals have been informed of the birth, as has the family of Diana, Princess of Wales, Harry’s late mother.
Buckingham Palace also said: “The duchess’s mother, DoriaRagland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage.”
The couple moved into nearby Frogmore Cottage, a royal residence on the grounds where they held their wedding reception.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was formerly known as Meghan Markle and was on the TV show Suits before retiring from acting to marry Harry at St. George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle, in the English county of Berkshire, a year ago.
Journalists and well-wishers have been camped out for days in Windsor, about 35 kilometres west of London, awaiting the birth.
